Charity Day

Dear Parents/Carers,
Letters will be given to your children on Monday however, hopefully you are already aware of the exciting upcoming event with Frederick Afrifa.

On the 30th and 31st of January, he will be coming into school to do a fitness workout with all of the children (one class at a time). He will then deliver an assembly where the children can ask him questions and discuss his training.

We are very excited to be working with ‘Sports for Schools’ with this event who support athletes in the journey but also give 60% of the money raised back to the school for equipment so they can continue to promote participation in sport.

Please can we encourage you to complete your sponsorship using the following link: https://www.sportsforschools.org/event/sfs2051

Thank you so much for your support in this event.

Topic

This week in topic, we had our hook. On Tuesday, all of the children were encouraged to dress up as the profession they want to be when they are older and we saw a great variety of professions from very determined children! We then wrote our life story.

Later on in the week, we analysed auto-biographies and looked at their features before planning and writing our own. It was great to see how much the children have already achieved and their aspirations for the future!

Maths

In maths this week, we have been learning about algebra. We learned how to find the sequence of numbers using the ‘nth’ term and how to find the missing numbers in sequences.

Once we had a clear understanding of this, we began to find the value of ‘x’ by substitution. Many of the children enjoyed this and demonstrated a great understanding of it. Below are some examples, please encourage your children to practice at home.

Parent helpers for our trip

On Wednesday 29th (6M and 6B) and Thursday 30th (6L, 6K and 6A) we will taking a trip on the train to visit a museum which will enhance our topic learning.

If there are any parents who are available and willing to help, would you please inform your child’s class teacher (or Mrs Lloyd) so we can consider parent helpers as adults for our trip.

Thank you very much 🙂
